About Us
Carriage House Designs began when artist Jack Nelson was joined in his studio by his wife Eileen Dowd. This union took place in a historic carriage house nestled in the Connecticut River Valley in Western Massachusetts. We now live and work in a new studio, an old mill building, originally built to house mill workers. The building overlooks a canal that shadows the Connecticut River as it heads south out of town. Jack and Eileen, and a really great crew of people, make Carriage House Designs happen.
Our PET MEMORIALS, personalized CROCKS, HOUSE PLAQUES and one of a kind designs are made with great care, attention to detail and pride. Products are designed in many mediums - Vermont marble and slate, local tumbled stone. Each medium has different needs and is handled accordingly. One of a kind pieces, shown in SEE JACK WORK section are often designed in clay, glass, wood and metal, in combination or singly. The combination of mediums and collaboration of handwork and technology is what Carriage House Designs unique.
Please look through our website. Visit our PET MEMORIALS - someone you know may have lost a much loved pet recently or long ago. Hearing from our customers, we know that our Pet Memorials help with the healing process. We donate 5% of our profits from the sale of Pet Memorials to the National Human Society. We do cull out very local zip codes, within Western Massachusetts, and send that portion of our donation to our local Human Society, The Daikin Pioneer Valley Human Society. In this way we are helping protect our animals both locally and on a national level.
